She attended Northwestern University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism before pursuing a master’s degree in American Studies, History, and Literature at Columbia University Kleinbaum is most well-known for her adaptation of films and television shows to novels. She authored D.A.R.Y.L. in , Growing Pains: A Novel between and , The Magnificent Seven: The Authorized Story of American Gold in , and Dr. Doolittle in (“NH Kleinbaum,” n.d.). She wrote Dead Poets Society in based on the screenplay by Tom Schulman (“N.H. Kleinbaum,” n.d.).
